Marvin P. Gaye, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Guidelines

SPONSOR: The African American Music Association

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Monetary - $500-$1000 Scholarship (Funds are paid directly to the accredited college, university or institution.

ELIGIBILITY: Any African American, District of Columbia public high school senior pursuing a degree in the field of Music and/or the Arts and a minimum 2.5 GPA is required. Each applicant must provide proof of financial need/status, letter(s) of acceptance and proof of registration from an accredited college, university or other institution.

APPLICATION PROCEEDURE/REQUIREMENTS: Submit an official transcript, copy of SAT scores, current report card and 3 letters of recommendation. Application must submit a 500-word essay entitled, "Why I Should Receive This Scholarship." Please mail your application before the deadline date. Applications received after that date will not be considered for the current year scholarship award. The selected applicant will be notified in writing when she/he has been selected.
